Born in Spain's La Rioja region, Mariam Piñeiro Marín—better known as Mariam Croft—was drawn to music from an early age. Her journey began at a local music conservatory, where she immersed herself in classical training and eventually became a piano teacher. But deep within, Mariam sensed that her path would go far beyond the classical scores.
In the late 1990s, as electronic music pulsed through underground clubs across Europe, Mariam found herself captivated by the energy of techno. It wasn’t long before she traded sheet music for turntables, and in 1998, she officially stepped into the world of DJing and music production.
As she honed her craft, Mariam developed a signature style—blending the precision of classical training with the raw intensity of techno. Her sets were more than performances; they were experiences. Whether spinning vinyl-only sessions or mixing digitally with live elements, she commanded the decks with both elegance and force.
Over the years, Mariam Croft shared the stage with legends such as Cristian Varela, The Advent, Misstress Barbara, Marco Bailey, and Fatima Hajji. Her name appeared on the lineups of iconic venues like Fabric (London), La Real, La Metro, and Pacha. Her performances resonated deeply with fans of underground techno, both in Spain and abroad.
Not content with simply playing music, Mariam began releasing her own. Her discography grew to include powerful techno cuts released on respected labels like Pornographic Recordings, Virgin Records, The Other Face, and Survivor Records. She even launched her own vinyl-only label, Sasa2 Recordings, carving out a space for her most personal sonic expressions.
Recent highlights include her collaboration on the MYN EP with Nacho Atmósfera and standout tracks like “Lux Vimdor” and “Scarface”, which showcase her dark, driving sound.
Today, Mariam Croft continues to evolve, driven by passion and an unbreakable connection to rhythm. Her story is one of transformation—from the concert halls of classical music to the smoky clubs of the techno underground. And she’s not finished yet.
